Creating the pieces in this series was a truly
existentialist experience for me. Once again body paint and a wig
transformed the perceived reality of my self into someone else entirely
whom I had never met before. This is also a statement on our media self
- or our mediated self, as I sometimes call it, removed from its own
truth.
I applied multiple technologies and/or techniques
before arriving at the final images. In my photographic work I never
limit myself with a fixed vision; rather I set out with an intuition
and then allow the pieces to take me on their own journey toward
completion. Hitting the shutter is only one step in my photography;
what comes before and after in fact is much more important.
